It was relaxing to be home, out of the way of all the nations and all the squabbling bickering rookies. The lake was calm, the bugs humming as they went about his business. The Green agent was very nearly falling asleep in his boat, his fishing pole dangling from his limp grasp over the water. He hadn't gotten a bite all day, and that was alright. Really he came out here to get plastered and say he'd been fishing.
It was nice out here in the Canadian wilderness, the warm summer sun shining down on him...practically laying in his two man boat...his eyes starting to droop slowly closed. This was so much better than the constant hectic nature of living and working as a senior spy. Of course...he wondered if his rookies would track him here. He certainly hoped not...he really wished for a quiet week, of rest and relaxation, and drunken fishing.

Reaching the shore of the lake, Cash spotted a cooler floating in the cold water. He had managed to track his superior out into the wilderness, figuring it as something of a test. After all, for all intents and purposes, he was still considered a rookie...no matter how many missions he'd gone through, he hadn't had a senior agent's okay... none of them had stuck around to grant him that status. Rotten luck on his part, he supposed.
A small boat was tied to the makeshift dock on the shore, battered and shabby. Cash jumped in, untying the knots, and lifted a paddle from the bottom, calling out to his senior agent as he came closer. "You lead a merry chase, mate, but I finally found you." The lilt of cockney in his accent was at odds with his upper-crust appearance.

Remember that statement about rookies not tracking him here? Well, his hopes had just been mashed. Groaning faintly he slumped further into his boat. "Oh....hello Cash." Why...why did he have to be the senior Green agent. Why couldn't the rookies go and bother some other poor sap? Oh, that's right...because he was the oldest idiot who still wanted the job.
Quietly his gaze went to the rookie, and he watched him approach. "Why're you here anyway?" Honestly, didn't these kids know anything about vacation time?

Cash went faintly pink, then winced as the sun bounced off the water and into his eyes. He drew his boat up beside the senior agent's with care. "I... needed some more time spent with a senior agent, and figured I'd come find you, follow you on a mission or two. But when they told me you'd come here..." he shrugged, the boat rocking a little. "I thought I'd search you out and just... stay away from the embassy for a bit. You know. Be a Sampa for a while, get me?" He used the cockney slang for 'civilian' without thought, rubbing the back of his head.

More time spent with a senior agent...missions...goddammit. His eyes looked over the rookie, who was now rubbing his head. "Did they happen ta tell you I was on vacation?" Whoever had told Cash where he was was going to die the next time he set foot in headquarters. Not that he minded Cash being here but....hell, it was his vacation...he didn't want to do any work right now. Especially not missions.

"They just said you weren't taking any new missions for awhile," Cash replied quietly. "I'm not here to give you new orders, if that's what you're thinkin'..." he watched Gustav for a moment. "You can just send me off, I don't mind. I know you're on your time off, trying to relax." His gaze went out over the lake, scanning the area.

Gustav looked over at the rookie slowly, then sighed. No new mission was good, "Ever done any fishing?" He couldn't just send the kid off now. He'd taken, presumably, a very long way to find him here, seeing as it was quite the remote location...besides, the kid seemed to need him. And...fishing alone really wasn't in his style. It was too lonely.

Startled by the question, Cash blinked at his superior, pulling a pair of lightly tinted sunglasses from his pocket and slipping them on with a stifled sigh of relief. "Not in a very long time," he admitted, a hint of a question coloring his words.

A chuckle left Gustav and he smiled at Cash, "I mean 'real' fishing." He picked up the beer case from next to him with a great smile. "Men go fishin' not to catch fish, but to have a legitimate, and free, reason to drink." He pulled one out and passed it to him. "Why don't you fish with me awhile."

Cash took the beer, popping it open and taking a sip. He smiled faintly, ignoring the bitterness. "Why does that make sense to me?" An answering chuckle left his throat as he shook his head, looking at his mentor through the hated glasses... but at least he wasn't squinting anymore. "You do this often, sir?"

"Because your a man." Gustav said with a chuckle, shifting his fishing pole and grabbing a second from the floor of his boat, he always had a spare in case he dropped his. This he handed to Cash too. It was part of the whole 'fishing' experience. "I do this whenever I get the time off. It's good for relaxing." Especially in our line of work he added silently.

Good for relaxing... Cash nodded, holding the rod in one hand and the can in the other. "Yeah, I bet it is... it's pretty out here." He cast the line with a flick of his wrist, watching the bobber float on the calm water. "'M sorry for, y'know, comin' up on you like this, surprising you." The senior agent had more work on his plate than usual, with the recent string of deaths, after all. He needed his vacation time to be quiet. The 'rookie' turned amber eyes on the other man, watching him without watching.

"Don't worry about it." Gustav smiled faintly, the lines on his face, caused by stress, fear, etc. "I was kinda expecting some sort of company." Hence the two thirty packs of beer. He could only drink one himself. Thinking Cash wasn't looking at him, the native Canadian had relaxed again, looking tired and older beyond his years. "Yeah, its nice out here, makes me miss home."

"You're originally from Canada, aren't you..." Cash's eyes appeared to be focused elsewhere, staring out into the lake, mesmerized by the hypnotic rhythm of the rocking boat. In truth, he was monitoring Gustav unthinkingly, reading his body language. "Do you miss your home, then?" A light tug on his line made him jerk at it, untangling it from the log it was stuck on.

"Mmm, born and bred in Montreal." Gustav said, eyes closing faintly. "I miss it every now and again." Generally it was while he was sitting out here, wondering if a normal life would really have been so bad. To be honest he was getting closer to that magic retirement age for spies...and he was thinking about going home and staying low.
